Plato invites us to imagine a group of people who have lived their entire lives chained inside a dark cave. They are unable to turn their heads or move their bodies, so all they can see are the shadows cast on the cave wall by objects behind them. These shadows are the only reality the prisoners know, and they perceive them as the true forms of things.

In the allegory of Plato's Cave, we are trapped in the physical world and are unaware of the true nature and form of reality. The cave is the material world, the realm of appearances, which is full of illusions and sensory deception. Humans experience a shadow of reality, only exiting that cave may you grasp another plane of reality.

This plane is, yet, another cave.
